Heathen’s Howl

Isn’t that smile compassionate? They ask me
Isn’t that face so kind?
A smirk is all my eyes sees
My brain shorts and fries

The almost proof of divinity is
The unparalleled serenity of your shrine
Could you have been right I wonder?
I make excuses sometimes

Tales of your philosophy I hear
Ringing true through time
Did he tamper with it? I wonder
Who’d come and verify?

Your salvation was inclusive of him
May he be cruel or unkind
Why discard and leave her out?
She was just another child

Your logic is flawless, everyone says
But you made one oversight
She isn’t less for the pain she bears
Her will is unbound, same as yours

I weep and howl from a lorn labyrinth
Such riddles and lies, not finite
Your words point to an exit sign
It says to her “Entrance denied”

You can’t bring your pride you say
She’s my core, not my pride
She’s been forsaken enough already
I’d never leave her behind

Damned if I do, damned if I don’t
Salvation just for well-endowed?
You take your mistruth, I’ll take her
Her love’s infinite, unlike yours
